Day Six
Plymouth, North Carolina
We went to a museum located in Plymouth, North Carolina on the sixth day of our trip. The museum provided information about the Battle of Plymouth, the last major Confederate victory in North Carolina and the CSS Albemarle. The CSS Albemarle was an ironclad that took action in the battle of Plymouth, but sunk on Oct. 27, 1864, when the Union took back their base near the city.
We chose to visit this museum in particular because so far on our trip, we hadn't gotten a chance to see any of the warships that were used in the various battles. This museum had a replica of the CSS Albemarle, which we thought was cool. It is even placed on a body of water! We traveled about 30 miles from Columbia to here, where we decided to call it a day and explored the city!
